Raimi ist das viertes von fünf Kindern von Celia Barbara und Leonard Ronald Raimi.
Mit seinen beiden Brüder Ivan und Ted dreht er oft gemeinsame Filmprojekte, seine Schwester ist Anwältern und sein anderer Bruder verstarb sehr jung bei einem Badeunfall.
Schon als Kind spielte Sam Rami seine Lieblingsfilme und Lieblingsserien nach und nimmt sie mit einer 8mm Kamera auf.
1981 produzierte er seinen ersten Low-Budget Film: Tanz der Teufel.
Raimi studierte an der Michigan State University und machte seinen Abschluss in englischer Literatur.
Später gründet er zusammen mit seinem Freund Robert Tapert die Produktions-Firma Renaissance Films.
Neben seiner Filmleidenschaft ist er ein großer Comic-Fan und hat besonderes interesse am Comic Spider-Man.
Seid 1993 ist Saimi mit Gillian Greene verheiratet und hat mit ihr vier Kinder. |
